ISCM Latvia Announced The Results Of International Girls’ Choir Composition Competition

Latvian Section of ISCM and Latvian Composers Union announced the results of an International Competition for Girls’ Choir Compositions.

For girls’ choir a capella, the ISCM Latvia received 25 submissions from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Israel and USA.

Four chosen finalists:
Zuzanna Koziej Laus Trinitati (Hildegarde of Bingen) (Poland)
Renāte Stivriņa Ave Maris Stella (Latvia/Poland)
Sabina Schmuki Ave Terra (Switzerland)
Alfred Momotenko-Levitsky (Music and text) When You ask me (Netherlands)

Competition finale, the concert and award ceremony will take place in the Latvian Radio Studio 1 (Doma Square 8, Riga) on November 14, 2022. The pieces will be performed by the Riga Cathedral Girls’ Choir Tiara.

Latvian Section of ISCM and Latvian Composers Union announced the International Competition for Girls’ Choir Compositions in August, 2021 . The competition aimed to create original compositions for girls’ choir, to learn the specifics of choir notation, promote composers from all over the world and expand the repertoire of the choir music in general.
